One fine Summer’s day, Luke, Resus, Cleo and I were playing tag indoors. Mrs Watson, who was watching all this unfold, asked us, “Shouldn’t you be playing tag outside?” “No sirree,” I called, “This is a real game of Tag!” We ran all around the living room, trying to catch each other, laughing and shouting. “Have you forgotten your indoor voices?!” called Alston over the noise, but we weren’t listening, we just kept on running and running. When it was my turn to chase my werewolf brother Luke, it happened. Luke was running until his legs can’t take no more, but then he kicked the table. “OW! Ow ow ow ow ow ooooooowwwww!!” howled Luke in his fiercest werewolf manner. He had stubbed his toe, and we all know what happens when Luke stubs his toe, don’t we?
That’s right, he transforms into a werewolf. “Uh oh, we’ve had our chips now,” whimpered Resus, and Cleo and I joined him in running upstairs to our room just as Luke’s werewolf trashed the place, all the while holding his foot and howling in pain. Cries of “Luke, it’s okay!” and “Don’t panic, Luke, it’s only a stubbed toe!” and “We get it a lot in this house!” came from downstairs. Cleo, Resus and I hid under the covers and shivered in fear. “Do you think he’s finished?” asked Cleo. “Not yet, I expect he’s ripped my mum to shreds.” Resus replied. “No, not yet, I think she’s a thousand or so years old and yet you’re still scared over werewolves.” “You were brave over him once,” said Cleo, “Remember when you made him transform into a werewolf to escape that haunted house?” “Ah, good times,” I sighed, but then it was all interrupted by the doorknob shaking. “LUKE!” we cried, and huddled together, wailing. The door burst open and Luke ran in, roaring. “NOW!” cried Resus, and I leapt out from under the covers and pinned Luke to the ground.
Luke struggled and growled as I called out to Cleo, “Get some soothing cream! Use some of your bandages to heal his toe!” Luke roared, and Cleo ran to get the cream. “Sssssshhhhh, sssshhhhhh…” I whispered to Luke, who stopped roaring, and transformed back into his normal human form again. Calming down, he took off his socks and felt his stubbed toe. “Ow…oohh…” said Luke. “Look who’s the wolf now, eh?” laughed Resus. “Resus, this isn’t something to laugh about."
