“It’s okay, Luke, it’s okay, you’ll be alright,” I reassured as Luke lay in bed with Cleo applying soothing cream and wrapping a bandage around his toe. “How are we going to make Luke happy and content?” asked Resus, “We can’t just let him transform into a werewolf and growl at life as if it were a helpless mouse.” “I think what he needs is a little help,” I said.
Minutes later, I was sitting on my little stool with a clipboard in one hand and a pencil in another, wearing a pair of funky red spectacles (those are Bella’s reading glasses!). Resus and Cleo giggled at how funny I was, but they calmed down when I said, “Hello, Luke, my name is Nurse Sophie. I’ve heard about something called ‘stubbing your toe’, and I thought I might come and help you. I’ve seen bruises, inflammation, itching, foot infections…but stubbed toes are just too dramatic.” “Dun Dun DUUUUU-” cried Resus, but Cleo clapped her hand over his mouth. “Don’t make it too dramatic for him!” she hissed. “We will undergo three simple tests so you can overcome worrying about your toe. These three won’t hurt at all.”
Test 1:
Deep Breathing.
“Now Luke,” I said, “We’re going to try some deep breathing. My teacher Calypso taught me how to do this, and now I’m going to share my knowledge with you.”
