It's Time To Learn With Sophie & Friends

I remember watching Teletubbies Everywhere on CBeebies. It was part of Pui's Discovery room, where she also showed Come Outside and Fab Lab. It's a relaxing, simple show aimed at toddlers to help their development and understand learning concepts, as the Teletubbies themselves - Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La-La and Po - wandered across a different variety of coloured backgrounds, sometimes interacting with themselves. It's like a preschool version of the Looney Tunes cartoon Duck Amok, but aimed at toddlers. My favourite parts of the show were not segments about real children set all over the world, but the Teletubbies themselves - forming shapes on the coloured background, encountering doubles of themselves, jumping and running across the background - just what you need to help your toddler learn and develop. So, I was wondering, what if I could make a show that's just like Teletubbies Everywhere and the autistic animation Aiko & Egor, but for children both in primary, pre and secondary school with autism? Yes! So, It's Time To Learn With Sophie & Friends was born. Narrated by Tony Robinson and featuring a mix of animation and live action, set against a variety of coloured and patterned backgrounds, in each episode the narrator guides me, my friends and a variety of other characters through segments that evoke stories, songs, simple learning concepts like colours, letters and numbers, games, world culture, languages, art, music, sign language, movement, life lessons, little thoughts and more, all without intrusive sounds or imagery. The narrator sometimes encourages viewers and their parents to join in at home by telling them exactly what to do during segments where there are games. It'll air on CBBC, CBeebies and on BBC Two during their kids' zone. I think it'll replace Hey Duggee. Don't worry, you can still see the big brown oaf on CBeebies!

I was asleep in bed, enjoying Dreamland’s ride With Luke, Resus and Cleo asleep by my side Chester asleep on one end of the bed As a soppy dream began filling my head My friends and I were roaming around the street Where on the windows cupcakes were cooling for us to eat There were games to play in the graveyard with friends Oh, this joy never ends Suddenly, the sky began to glow blood red The sun became orange and above our heads Tall skyscrapers began to tower As the residents ran in a scattering shower The American flag was lifted above, America’s taking the friends I love So I took out my gun and returned fire The hole in the flag reached my desire “How do you like it?” I yelled in anger, “America, you’re a trapjawed cloakandagger!” Suddenly, an arm took hold of my hand And dragged me away, not to Dreamland But to a...
