Welcome To The Family: Meagre

My family and I live in a holiday camp.

It’s nice and relaxing there.

There’s a community of friendly people.

They care about us.

There’s no clothes to worry about.

We enjoy it here.

The camp is located near the beach.

We love to hear the waves splashing.

I love this peaceful place.

Not as much as I love my family.

We play in the back garden of our holiday home.

We play croquet and hide and seek.

When we play Tag, it’s the most fun.

One touch, and he or she is it!

I love playing games with my siblings.

We also love playing on the beach.

Muffin and Bingo make sandcastles.

I play with my cousin Six.

The grownups relax in deckchairs.

Aaaaahh, this is the life.

We love it away from work.

We’re so happy here.

We go swimming in the sea.

Luella teaches Socks how to swim.

We splash each other, laughing wildly.

Especially Luke, Resus, Cleo and me.

We are connected to the sea.

The sea is our birthplace.

We own the sea.

That’s the priority of our family.

When we’re tired, we fall asleep.

Asleep on the gold, smooth sand.

It feels peaceful when sleeping on the beach.

Your mind is at rest with nature.

You’re with people who love you.

You’re in a relaxing, supportive environment.

So is your family.

It is a quiet, friendly holiday camp.

Most holiday camps are gruelling and noisy.

Not this one.

It’s a sanctuary for families like us.

I feel like I’m at rest here.

Especially when it’s time for bed.

We enjoy hot cocoa in front of the fire.

We have a nice, warm bath.

We brush our teeth.

We climb into our shared bed.

It’s so comfortable.

Snuggling under the covers, we fall fast asleep.

The stars above us shine like diamonds.

Night falls over the camp.

The parents say their prayers.

“We are proud to be together,

No matter what they say,

Forever we will stand as one

And on the beach we’ll play.”

The Nightmare

LET THE NIGHTMARE BEGIN!! I had a dream strange but true That might shock and terrify you It’s from my house in Cornwall, you see, And this dream meant much harm to me. I was asleep in bed, enjoying Dreamland’s ride With Luke, Resus and Cleo asleep by my side Chester asleep on one end of the bed As a soppy dream began filling my head My friends and I were roaming around the street Where on the windows cupcakes were cooling for us to eat There were games to play in the graveyard with friends Oh, this joy never ends Suddenly, the sky began to glow blood red The sun became orange and above our heads Tall skyscrapers began to tower As the residents ran in a scattering shower The American flag was lifted above, America’s taking the friends I love So I took out my gun and returned fire The hole in the flag reached my desire “How do you like it?” I yelled in anger, “America, you’re a trapjawed cloakandagger!” Suddenly, an arm took hold of my hand And dragged me away, not to Dreamland But to a...
